If your business isn’t on Facebook yet, you’re missing out on one of the most effective ways to reach your customers. You should make creating your Facebook business page a top priority so you minimize your lost opportunities. The good news: making a Facebook business page is simple. Here’s how to make a Facebook business page in four easy steps.
1. Choose the ideal category for your business. Go to https://www.facebook.com/pages/create.php and choose a category for your page. There are six categories for Facebook pages: local business or place; company, organization, or institution; brand or product; artist, band, or public figure; entertainment; and cause or community. It may seem like a small decision, but this will impact the options and setup of your page, and you can’t change formats later. If you have a small business with a storefront, local business may be your best way to increase traffic.
2. Set up basic profile information on your Facebook business page. Fill in your profile. At the very least, you should include a cover picture and a profile picture, a description of your business and what it can do for your ideal customer (in the About section), your website, and the rest of the particular options for the page you have chosen (such as an address, hours, phone number, etc.) under Page Info. Don’t bother creating an advertisement or sharing your page yet even when invited because you still don’t have any content to make it a compelling page.
3. Designate admins and start tracking your growth. Facebook business pages can have more than one admin with specific permissions as given in the Page Roles section. You may want to add additional people and establish what they are allowed to update. You also want to set up your Insights tab to track metrics. You won’t have much (or any) growth yet, but you can still learn what’s available to track now, so you can easily measure the success of your initial efforts.
4. Create enough initial content that you can get traction by liking your page and inviting others. Create posts to populate your page with content to get it going. Add photos, videos, events, and links, so your page looks active before your first visitor ever sees it. You can even add a location check-in option. Once you have a few quality posts, like your page and invite your friends. Your fans will start to grow, and you can even start promoting your page outside your circle if you choose.
These four steps will ensure your company’s Facebook page will start gaining you a following and a significant social media presence from day one. Of course, a page on its own won’t make as much of an impact as it could unless you optimize it, which should be your next step. At Provaro, we are here to help walk you through how to make a Facebook business page or how to optimize your current Facebook page. No matter how established your Facebook presence or how new it may be, we can help you get more traffic and increase sales.
