Local marketing ideas for small business

Hi everyone, Sarah Giometti here. In today’s video, I want to talk about local marketing ideas for a small business.

Now, don’t be surprised that my focus is definitely going to be on digital marketing ideas for marketing your local business. Of course, you can do local offline things like join a Chamber of Commerce maybe join a BNI chapter. Doing networking is a really great way offline to grow, and market your business, but let’s focus on digital marketing strategies. First and foremost, it’s a theme through all my videos, is local SEO. You want to do an SEO, search engine optimization strategy that is locally focused and focus on your Google My Business Google maps listing, what is tied into that is reviews. You want to make sure that you have a decent quantity of high quality four and five-star reviews from your best customers so you want to make sure you’ve got a review and reputation management strategy to make sure you’re generating and monitoring reviews. And if you get something that’s not so stellar make sure you’re interacting and responding and correcting the problem because everybody sees that and it actually looks favorably on you if you fix a problem from a negative review. Those are the top two strategies that any local business should do every local business should be doing a local SEO Google Maps strategy combined with a review reputation management strategy.

Next, if you want to get a little bit more advanced, is start creating content. The most powerful and easy is videos. Google owns YouTube and has a vested interest in ranking YouTube videos, and so creating videos that go up on YouTube that are also local focused, you’re now getting added chances to rank well locally and organically for creating video content and it’s very powerful, it’s multi-dimensional, multi-useful, you can use on YouTube, on your blog, on your social media. It’s a very versatile and powerful marketing medium is doing video for your local business. And then finally, if you’re a totally anti-video you definitely will want to… You still want to create content cause video and written blogs, create content or create authority which Google and your customers both like. So, if you’re anti-video for authority, then hire a writer or write yourself for blogs adding blog articles to your website again, it adds authority, it shows that you know what you’re talking about, your expertise, and that will play in optimizing those for local keyword searches will also help for a local business, for marketing. So those are the four strategies that I recommend for local businesses.

First and foremost, don’t do anything else, if you’re not doing local SEO combine review and reputation management in with that and then next to add on to it and make it more powerful add videos and finally add blog articles in conjunction with the videos or instead of the videos, if you really, really don’t want to do videos.
