Why Local Businesses Should Do Video Marketing

Hey everyone, Sarah Giometti here. And in this video, I want to talk about why local businesses should do video marketing.

There is a saying that if a picture is worth 1,000 words, a video is worth 1 million. Video is one of the most universal, powerful, influential types of marketing you can do for your local business and here are some of the reasons why. One, it can promote brand awareness, you can do a lot of different kinds of videos. Most of mine are based on education and teaching small local business owners how to market their business online, but you can have fun and be creative depending on what your business is. You can have your employees on there, you can have customers do testimonials. There’s a lot of variety you can do in there that creates brand awareness and shows company culture that would help improve your business and your marketing online.

Tying into improving your online presence, you take one video, you optimize it for Search Engine Optimization locally, you upload it to YouTube which is the second largest search engine behind Google who owns them and has a vested interest for ranking videos really well. So this one piece of content is now working for you, for SEO on YouTube, transcribe it, embed the video with the transcription on your website as a blog article. So now you got the video that people can watch, the transcription if they’re not in a place to watch the video and the transcription tells the Google spiders what that page and video are all about. You can also take that video and upload it to Facebook. So now you have this one piece of content that has worked really well for you in three different ways.

Videos also humanize your brand. Now think about if you’ve been watching some of my videos or you watch some other videos, the more you watch, the more you feel like you know those people, you could like them, you can trust them, especially in business, if you’re watching a bunch and you’re learning and they are educational based, they’re showing you their expertise and your opinion is going to turn favorable that they are the ones that you want to pick to do business with. You can have yourself on there, your employees, whatever you want to do, you can be creative, but it humanizes your brand because you feel like you’re having a conversation with somebody, instead of just reading the words or talking to them on the phone or through email which are all very cold, your personality and style could come through video and that humanizes you and which we all want to deal. We do business with people, not with brands, not with businesses. People do business with people and video really helps tie that together.

It also can boost engagement. Again, people are really liking video right now, it’s really powerful. People prefer to watch that over reading. And so your engagement, the platforms, especially like social media, Facebook, and YouTube, your engagement will grow with it because they have a vested interest in getting people to stay on their channels. Facebook wants people to stay on Facebook as much as possible so they’re going to promote the video because people are really liking video.

It also helps build trust. Think about if you’ve been watching my channel for a while, or some other channel, the more videos you watch of what I’m talking about, the more you’re probably hopefully going to trust me that I know what I’m talking about, I’m not feeding you a whole bunch of bullshit, that I’m giving you sound advice that’s tied specifically for local business owners to help you grow your business because that’s ultimately what I’m here for and that’s my goal in life is to help small business owners. The more you watch me, hopefully, the more you trust me and trust in what I’m saying and eventually, hopefully, that circles around that people start hiring me based on the videos that I’m doing. You can apply that same logic to your business.

Videos are also can be very inexpensive and easy to produce. This video right now, I’m sitting in front of my computer, I have a $80-webcam that does 1080p video, I have a light sitting right in front of me, and I’m sitting in front of a window, so my lighting is okay. So I’ve spent maybe 200… And I have a microphone that’s maybe $50 for the sound to be better. So, I’ve spent maybe $250 on equipment, but you don’t even need to do that. You have a smartphone, grab your smartphone, put it on the $15 tripod and call it good and start videos, and if you get decent at them you don’t need editing but you can also go to Fiverr and have somebody edit it for five bucks to make it look good. So it could be super easy and inexpensive to produce and that’s, you know, easy and inexpensive in marketing is kind of a misnomer and is unusual. So, that’s where video can be very useful and powerful again.

Ultimately the goal of doing the videos, I do really want to help small local business owners and I put the education out there, but ultimately, I am hoping that that goodwill will circle around and people will call and reach out and hire me. That’s the ultimate goal in all marketing is to create sales for your business and doing it through goodwill is a really powerful way to do that and you do goodwill through your videos, it will come back to you tenfold over time, if you have a consistent strategy. So these are some of the reasons why local businesses should do video and why video is so powerful and can be so easy and inexpensive and a great way for you to market your business online.

I hope you found this video useful. If you have any additional questions, feel free to drop them below and I’ll get back to you. If you like this video and you want to see more of my videos, I would love for you to subscribe to my channel and if you know a business owner who will find this useful, feel free to share it with them. That helps me spread my education out to local business owners and help more people. Thanks for watching and I’ll see you in the next video. Bye.
